When Nicole Via entered the New Horizons Computer Learning Center campus in Orlando, she literally opened “new horizons” for a career.
Via, who has always had a knack for technology and computers, decided she wanted to become a professional in the Information Technology (IT) career field.
Without knowing where to begin, she was given advice and eventually completed classes to become certified in A+ Certified Technician by learning A+ along with Network+, Windows 7 and Enterprise Support Technician courses.
Ultimately, this education helped Via secure a job as a Help Desk Technician at Conversys Corp. (NYSE: CVG) at the Lake Mary, Fla., location. A global leader in relationship management for more than 30 years, Conversys based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has approx. 70,000 employees in 67 customer contact facilities in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
“Before I started at New Horizons, I did not have any IT experience,” she says. However, she found diligent instructors and a welcoming, hands-on learning environment that helped her succeed.
“They have outstanding instructors and they are always willing and ready to help you every step of the way,” she says. “They have been very helpful in guiding me in the right direction every step of the way.”
In fact, the job placement department assisted Via with her search that led to the position at Conversys.
“Thanks to New Horizons, I am on my way to starting a new career,” Via adds.
